MempHop legend Jason Da Hater Harris dropped off his new mixtape by Neglected Sound recently and it is in his words; hilarious. The new mixtape “The Worst Best Rapper In Town” gives the listener a total perspective into the mind of Da Hater. The first thing any listener will notice is the detail put into this mixtape with actual scratching and mixing take a note other emcees a mixtape is more than just a collection of songs. As soon as the Ballad of A Hater, a remake of the MC Ren classic, comes on you began the journey into who is Da Hater. That journey which goes from the comedic All Clothes, a PSA into who shouldnt wear what, to his mocking imitation of a gangster rapper named Yung Bush. the song  named after the former president’s war-trigger persona with lines such as “i declare war we dont have to have beef” and “who that out there saying i dont care about blacks.” Also the guest appearances which includes a show stopping verse by Seance aka SavSola on “Kick the Truth.” This mixtape should hold all listeners over until the album drops this summer. The Revival gives a candid glimpse into the first meeting of legendary Hip-Hop pioneer Roxanne Shante and veteran Philly emcee Bahamadia, as they trade stories of their struggles and triumphs in the industry over their long careers. It also shows the exchange of lessons between them and up and coming artists DJ Shortee, Eternia, Stacy Epps, and Invincible. This short documentary, a collage of performances and behind the scenes footage, was filmed and directed by Invincible while on the road in Europe as part of We-B Girlz all women in independent Hip-Hop tour. The largest all female Hip-Hop tour of its kind, it spanned over three weeks, six countries, and featured dozens of female artists who performed for tens of thousands of supporters.

“Well its that time a year so I might as well get to it…” Those familiar with Skillz(formerly Mad Skillz) Rap Up series know full well what that line means. It means that each year Skillz puts together a song details all of the years major events from the DC inauguration, to Tiger Woods, to Lebron’s dunk tape, to things you might have missed in the news headlines. This Rap Up series started with the 02 Rap Up and Skillz has continued to become more impressive with these year after year unfortunately a number of emcees have tried to copy and lets just say leave this job to the professionals. Skillz’ Rap Up is the only one I want to hear and look forward to every year. download link below this post.

MEMPHOP (Memphis + HipHop) vet Queen Nilaja released the video for her song Pass The Light produced by Empee that features a verse from Ari and beautiful melody sung by Aset. The video was filmed by fellow Memphopper (yeah I made that up) Infinito 2017 and flows perfectly along with the words to the song. This is pure organic, soulful hiphop at its finest. Glad to see MEMPHOP continuing to grow and the sisters really taking a lead role in it.
